If there were a Hall of Fame for streetwear, Stussy would undoubtedly be in the mix for the honor. Marking its monumental 40th anniversary in 2020, Stussy will be keeping the streetwear world on high alert for special drops throughout the year. Dior may be among its collaborators, but it’s a partnership with Dover Street Market and Commes Des Garçons that will kick off the celebrations. Here’s a look at the special edition Stussy x CDG collaboration varsity jacket launching this Wednesday, January 15.
One key highlight of the collaboration is the piece’s high-quality construction. While the varsity jacket remains a familiar streetwear staple, the Stussy x CDG collaboration version uses elements that elevates it to a luxury piece. The jacket is constructed out of melton wool, lined with satin and embellished with chenille patches. While these might not be enough to justify the S$570 price tag, the combination of iconic and signature details might just seal the deal.
One side of the varsity jacket’s front features the signature Stussy “World Tour” design with its iconic interlocking “S” logo. Meanwhile, the other side features the triple-branding of the collaboration – CDG, Comme Des Garçons, and the original Stussy graffiti logo. On the back, the huge “Surfman” logo pays homage to the brand founder’s early influence, and is rounded off with CDG’s perfect co-branded placement.
The Stussy x CDG collaboration varsity jacket launches exclusively in-store at Dover Street Market Singapore this Wednesday, January 15, retailing at S$570 each.
