Essential to this year’s upsized edition of the annual event is the fact that it will be held over 70,000 square-feet of land at the Pasir Panjang Power Station. The two-day event, which opens to the public from October 27 to 28, will be sneakers and streetwear galore offered by 16 showcase brands and about 70 individual vendors.
There are new additions too, including a dedicated food and beverage section with 15 vendors (Halal options offered), flash Parkour, graffiti art bombings, arcade basketball and an indoor skate ramp.
Look out also for an exhibition of SBTG’s custom sneakers released throughout the years, his pop-up with Scoopy’s & Cream (ice-cream makers) and Hall of Flame, a gallery of rare sneakers and collectibles curated by the co-founders of Street Superior, Dexter Tan and Jonathan Fong.
Having visited the space, a handy tip we can offer you would be to dress comfortably, and by that we mean that slides, singlets, and shorts would be perfectly acceptable.
But there’s more to the line-up, and here are six reasons why we wouldn’t miss Street Superior 2018:
1. LE Convenience by Limited Edt
For Street Superior 2018, Limited Edt has been reimagined as the LE Convenience, inspired by local convenience stores commonly found in housing estates in Singapore.
The LE Convenience taps into the sentiments of nostalgia towards these local minimarts, to create a one-stop shop at Street Superior that stands out and provides all sneaker needs. Like local minimarts, LE Convenience represents Limited Edt’s status as the premier, go-to store for all lifestyle sneakers, apparel and accessories.
No Limited Edt experience is complete without high profile sneaker launches, so expect to have the chance to cop the Adidas x Dragon Ball Z Prophere and Deerupt Runner, Adidas Hu x Pharrell Williams X Billionaire Boys Club collection, Adidas Boost Yeezy 700 and Adidas x Bathing Ape 3ST.002.
Some limited edition Nike SB Dunk shoes and a collection of past Limited Edt collabs will be for sale at the LE Convenience too.
2. Limited edition timepieces
G-SHOCK will be releasing watches exclusively at Street Superior. The Black & Gold GMW-B5000GD collection are must-haves, and will only be available in limited quantities to make sure you act fast. Time, as you know, is of the essence.
3. Free shoes
Despite the rebrand, Street Superior 2018 will not break with the Sole Superior tradition of sneaker giveaways. Shoes up for grabs this year include the Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 1/97, a pair of 2016 Jordan 1 Breds, the upcoming Yeezy 700, the recently released Adidas x BBC Hu Race NMD and a pair of CLOT Air Force 1s. The giveaways take place on both days of the event so no one loses out!
4. 45 years of the Yellow Boot
In celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Yellow Boot this year, Timberland will showcase the special edition 45th Anniversary boot (look out for a special logo and sapphire highlights) and a display of other limited edition collaboration Yellow Boot with brands like Mastermind, Supreme, Kith and Off-White. You’ll also get a chance to design your own mini-boot.
5. Sneaker charity
Too many sneakers and don’t know what to do with them? Bring them to Street Superior for donation to Soles4Souls, a non-profit enterprise started in Nashville that helps create sustainable jobs and provide relief to the poor. Any covered shoe is welcome, regardless of size, brand or gender, as long as they are in good, wearable condition. Donors will receive a token of appreciation.
6. Sneaker trading pit
Probably one of the most exciting part of Street Superior would have to be the sneaker trading pit. All ticket-holders are entitled to bring their sneakers to trade, barter and sell in the public trading pit. If you’re really looking to dive head first into the sneaker reselling scene, the sneaker trading pit is a good place to start.
